FROM HOSPITAL ADMISSION TO INTENSIVE CARE
In-hospital treatment requires continuous patient care. The EMCOOLS cooling system allows for patients to be treated immediately after hospital admission or immediately after in-hospital cardiac arrest, independent of patient location. No preparation time for heavy, bulky power-operated equipment.
The portable cooling device allows for patient access and mobility during hypothermia treatment: no external power supply, no tubes and cables attached. The cooling pads are non-invasive and take only 2 minutes to apply to the patient's body.
EMCOOLS Flex.Pad is radiolucent and MRI-compatible and -safe. Thus, the cooling therapy with EMCOOLS can be started at hospital admission and followed through to intensive care without any interruption.
Convnetional cooling devices have to be hospital based due to the heavy, bulky and power-operated design. The required cables and tubes leave healthcare professionals with little or no patient access and mobility during treatment. This means that the cooling therapy may need to be interrupted if the patient requires further examinations during the 12 to 24 hour course of the hypothermia treatment. Set-up and application are sometimes sophisticated and take long preparation times. Time to start cooling with conventional cooling devices is therefore delayed (up to 3 hours) as cooling can only be startet once the patient gets transferred to the intensive care unit.
