Your body’s thermoregulation is trying to keep the core temperature of your body constant at about 37°C. The temperature of the body is controlled by the hypothalamus and your body’s core temperature protects the internal organs and is essential for survival.

During high exertion, such as sports performance, your body temperature can rise by up to 3°C. This can be a major factor in the developing heat stroke. To counteract this and to lower your body core temperature back to the optimal temperature, your body needs to sweat.
